Day 6 of Filming (23/3/2015)

On this day I filmed with my actress Lauren at and around college. I decided to film here because I was beginning to struggle with time and Lauren being free to film outside of college so I knew it would be easier to try and complete some filming at college.

To film I needed to borrow a camera and tripod from college. I was able to keep the equipment I had used previously filming with Danny for this filming. However, I encountered a problem when the camera battery ran dry. I was able to get a replacement battery for the equipment manager so this did not become a problem.

I first filmed in one of the classrooms in college as this was a setting that fit the events that were happening on screen at the time. I then went to film on a street outside the college and managed to find Amy who was willing to be in a few shots of my video.

Overall, I am happy with the filming I have managed to get on this day as it has brought me closer to completing my filming leaving me with only some bits that need to be filmed at my house before I will complete my video.

Day 5 of Filming (22/3/2015)

On this day I arranged with Danny to film for the performance part of my music video, including re-filming the parts I had already filmed for the performance due to removing the microphone from my video because, in my opinion, it didn't look very good.

I borrowed a camera and tripod from college and arranged with Danny to meet at the mound at 11:30. We were able to film for a few hours and managed to finish the shooting that I needed to do with him.

While we were filming I asked him to wear a denim jacket I owned because I thought it fit in with the character I was trying to portray in my music video.

Overall, I am happy with the filming I managed to complete on this day as I was able to complete the filming I needed for the performance part of my music video making it easier for me to fit the narrative around the editing I have to do.

Day 4 of Filming (13/3/2015)

Due to the recasting of my actress I had to re-film some shots I had already taken which I wanted to do as quickly as I could. For this reason this is the first thing I did after I re-cast reshooting the shots I had taken on the 14th of February. Lauren came over to my house and provided a camera and tripod for me as I had forgotten to check one out from college. She was only able to film for 2 hours on this day so we had to try and complete as many shots as we could in that time. We were able to complete the reshoots I had wanted to do but were unable to shoot any new footage as Lauren had to go before we could do that. I had asked Lauren to bring a verity of outfits on that day incase we were able to get some more shots taken.

I used the same props I used in the filming session with Sarah, although I had to rewrite the letter from her father.

Overall, I am pleased with the way filming went on this day as it has got the beginning of my narrative filmed meaning I will be able to begin re-editing my video with my new actress.

Change of Actress

Due to issues regarding the scheduling and reliability of my actress Sarah Baynes I have had to find someone else to take her part in the video, recasting her with Lauren Schofield who I believe will be easier to schedule as we both go to the same college. Also due to this we will be able to film during college hours which I could previously not do. Due to this I will have to re-film the footage I managed to get with Sarah which I will be doing within the next few days.

Day 3 of Filming (14/2/2015)

I filmed at my house in our loft bedroom on this day. My actress Sarah came over with a few costumes I had asked her to bring so that I would be able to film quiet a bit of the video on this day. However, due to the camera I borrowed from college running out with me not having the charger I was unable to film as much as I wanted on this day. On this day I managed to film the opening shots of my video completing a bit of the narrative of the video.

For these shots I had to find a few props including a few alcohol bottles that were half drunk so that appeared that my actress had drunk from them. I used a couple of bottles that we had in the house, however I would have liked for there to be more bottles but we did not have any more alcohol in the house. I also had to write a letter (which originally was going to be a photograph).

On the day I decided to change some of the shots I was going to take due to a change in idea meaning that there will be some differences to the shots on my storyboard.

Overall, I am happy with the way this day of shooting went and believe I got a good chunk of my filming done.

Poster Conventions

Digipak Conventions

I looked at Sam Smith's 'In the Lonely Hour' because he's a male artist, as my artist is, and I felt I could take inspiration from what was featured in his digipak when creating mine. From this digipak I like the simplicity that has been featured throughout and believe it reflects the entire album well. When creating my piece I will look to created something similar to this, featuring a simple layout as to reflect the tone of the song I have chosen. Also because of the conventional simpler album covers from male artists I believe it would be best to keep mine simple rather than try and be outside the box and break what is seen in most male digipaks.

I looked at Gavin DeGraw's 'Chariot' because he's a male artist who I could take inspiration from for the cover of my album. I like the simplicity that has been featured throughout this digipak and the house style that has been kept consistant throughout. I will consider something similar to this when creating my digipak as it will reflect the song I have chosen well.
